In medicine, a prosthesis, prosthetic, or prosthetic limb (Greek: "addition") is an artificial device extension that replaces a missing body part. Prostheses are typically used to replace parts lost by injury (traumatic) or missing from birth (congenital) or to supplement defective body parts.

Prostheses are technically the complete finished item. For instance, a C-Leg knee alone is not a prosthesis, but only a prosthetic part. The complete prosthesis would consist of the stump attachment system - usually a "socket", and all the attachment hardware parts all the way down to and including the foot.

Orthotics (Greek: "to straighten" or "align") is a specialty within the medical field concerned with the design, manufacture and application of orthoses. An orthosis (plural: orthoses) is an orthopedic device that supports or corrects the function of a limb or the torso.

At Sentro Orto- Físiko Kòrsou we make sure that all parts of our prostheses and orthoses fit correctly to maximize our patients’ comfort levels.
