Haitian Amputee Project
The January 2010 earthquake in Haiti left thousands of people with injuries that required amputations. In October 2011 a group of 10 Haitian amputees came to Curaçao to be fitted and trained with prostheses by Sentro Orto-Fisiko Korsou. The patients each underwent six weeks of physical therapy.
This was a Rotary Club Willemstad project, who worked with the Royal Dutch Navy, which provided accommodations in its barracks, and with local companies Insel Air and ABC Bus Company, which covered travel expenses.
The videos below show the patients in the late stage of their physical therapy period.
